Some Eye problems are not detectable without an eye exam by an Optometrist, but a Parent can be the first to detect early symptoms of some problems in their child.
Warning signs:
Sitting very close to the TV
Holding objects very close
Avoiding coloring, puzzles, picture books
Covering one eye when looking at something close
Body rigidity while looking at distant objects
Lack of concentration
Visible frustration or grimacing
Hyperactive or short attention span
Excessive blinking or rubbing of the eyes
Tilting of the head or unusual posture
Complaining of visual problems, headaches, itchy eyes
Lack of hand-eye coordination
Having difficulty identifying and reproducing basic shapes
