Is it an Allergy?

Ask Yourself these Questions:
•        Do your eyes itch or burn?
•        Do your eyes tear?
•        Do your eyes become red?
•        How long do the symptoms last?
•        When do the symptoms occur?
•        What triggers the symptoms?

Signs and Symptoms

Chronic allergy patients are recognizable by their physical
appearance and by systemic symptoms such as:
•        Nasal sinus congestion
•        Itchy eyes
•        Watery eyes
•        Post-nasal drip

Allergic eyes will have the classic red appearance with:
•        Itching
•        Chemosis
•        Tearing
•        Lid edema
•        Serous discharge
•        General irritation

Environmental Changes
•        Sudden cold front moves through
•        Humidity and barometric pressure change

Studies have shown an increased prevalence of allergy
correlated with:
•        Cigarette smoke
•        Certain drugs

One basic guideline often holds true: "If it itches it's allergy, if it
burns it's dry eye and if it's sticky it's bacterial."
